Pegasus Bows is an American company operating out of Northeast Ohio.

Our principal has spent years in professional lutherie and is an active cellist and multi-instrumentalist. We maintain a working shop, serve a local and national customer base, and hold ourselves to the standards we learned from the tradition — because we live inside that tradition.

Bow making is one of the most refined crafts in the history of Western instrument culture. The vocabulary it generated — response, weight distribution, camber, stick flexibility, the behavior of the hair under sustained pressure — is not incidental. We use that vocabulary because we work within it. Our customers play at levels where these distinctions are not abstract, and we take that seriously.

Every bow we ship has passed through a luthier's hands — not a warehouse quality check, not an algorithm. We play them. We flex them. We know the difference between a stick that will serve a serious player and one that won't, and we don't send the latter.

Our customers are music teachers, conservatory students, orchestral players, and serious amateurs who have played enough bows to know immediately if something is wrong. That's exactly the kind of customer we want — because that accountability keeps us honest. We are not trying to sell to someone who won't notice. We are trying to earn the trust of someone who will.

Questions about a specific bow? About your playing level, your instrument, what stick weight or flexibility might suit you?
